We all want to lower the impact we make on our environment. Giving up or reducing flying is one of the best ways to enjoy a holiday. So what better than to pitch up at Loch Ness Shores Camping and Caravanning Club site?
We are doing all we can to make sure you can enjoy a low in impact, but high in enjoyment holiday!
Here are 5 of thing actions we’ve taken to make sure you can enjoy your holiday knowing that you are doing your best for the environment.
1. Our solar thermal energy and water pump heating system!
Learn about our solar thermal heating system at Loch Ness Shores, working with the Energy Saving Trust. It can get chilly at times, but you can stay snug in our shower block, knowing that we are using state-of-the-art, sustainable technology
2. Our well insulated wigwam cabins
Our wigwam holiday cabins are so well insulated, and with a small electrical heater, that there is no danger of getting too cold. Set with gorgeous views over Loch Ness this is the perfect place for a ‘tread lightly’ explore of the Highlands of Scotland.
3. We shop and eat local
We source all of our gorgeous food and gift products as close as possible, with the vast majority coming from Scotland. Our diner meals are mainly sourced from top providers within a few miles of the site.
4. We minimise the use of plastics
We are always looking for ways to cut our use of plastics and fossil fuels. We use compostable take-away cups for our hot drinks, and will always refill water bottles for any passing hikers. We encourage those camping with us to bring their own bags, or to use one of our paper bags.
5. Our vision for the future!
We are not content to sit back on our achievements so far. We already offer kayaks and boats so that people can explore the loch from the water. But in the future we plan to offer a marina and water boat so that our visitors can explore nearby attractions without needing to use their vehicles.
