I recently had the pleasure of leading a group of Inverness Ramblers on a hike up the towering Munros of Tom a’ Choinich and Toll Creagach in nearby Glen Affric. Despite the less-than-ideal weather forecast, we were treated to a stunning display of nature’s springtime splendor. As we ascended through the heather-clad hills, I pointed out the various wildflowers that dotted the landscape, sharing a bit of local history and geology along the way.
One highlight was spotting a beautiful emperor moth, its intricate wings seemingly painted by the most skilled of artisans. The group was captivated, pausing to admire this remarkable creature before continuing our journey.
